Description
March 15, 2023 on The Story: Early this year, we watched the 118-year-old church at Southwest 10th and Clay in downtown Portland go up in flames. It was demolished days later. The building lay vacant for years before the fire, and it was last occupied by the Portland Korean Church congregation. But going back to the very beginning, the Clay Street church was first built by a congregation of German immigrants in the early 1900s. Tonight, we'll explore the memories of an 83-year-old woman who got married and raised a family in the church — and who says it broke her heart to see the building destroyed.
