Description
For the first time, an all-women team will perform the Super Bowl flyover this weekend. Laura Krueger flew for the U.S. Navy for over 20 years. She shared her excitement about the upcoming historic moment.
The flyover commemorates 50 years of women flying in the Navy.
"It's pretty amazing. I think the Navy has come a long way and it's nice to see that they're celebrating and giving attention to the women who are serving now and in these types of roles," Krueger said. "But it's also kind of a little disheartening because we wonder why is it 2023 and we still have to say, 'Oh look, women fly.'"
Krueger was one of the first women to fly in combat in 2003.
"I'm proud and I'm definitely more proud of the women that are coming behind me and the things that they are accomplishing, absolutely," Krueger said.
