Sept. 21, 2022 on The Story: Oregon's only state-run mental health facility is so full that it's been ordered to start releasing patients. Roughly half the patients at Oregon State Hospital were arrested first, then sent there for treatment because they were deemed unfit to stand trial. But there are lots of other people who need treatment, and they're spending weeks in jail waiting to get into the hospital because of the backlog. Now, dozens of patients will be released each month to make room for new patients. But where will those folks end up once they get out?
