Cheryl Skoric started her business, Bouquets & Balloons, in 1987. In 35 years, she’s seen highs and lows. Skoric, Oregon’s first certified balloon artist, traveled to Orlando last month with 400 other balloon artists to create a Balloon Wonderland for the Give Kids The World Village. The village is a no-cost vacation resort for critically ill children and their families. Themes like Dino-land, Candyland and Under the Sea were all on display. Skoric was in charge of the Jungle Safari scene, complete with a Jeep and huge trees. She hopes to participate again as a small way to give back — and one day wants to bring something similar to the Portland area.
