Description
The former Clear Creek County Sheriff's Office deputy who shot and killed Christian Glass in June 2022 was sentenced to three years in prison on Monday.
After three long years, two trials and countless tears, the Glass family said Christian's name was finally cleared.
Glass called 911 for help after he got his car stuck on a boulder in Silver Plume in June 2022. He appeared to be experiencing a mental health crisis when several officers engaged with him for more than an hour. Buen then broke Glass' car window, shot him with bean bag rounds and used a Taser on him before shooting him five times in the chest.
Judge Catherine Cheroutes sentenced Andrew Buen to three years in the Department of Corrections with two years of mandatory parole for criminally negligent homicide, to be served concurrently with 120 days in jail for reckless endangerment. Buen will get credit for 54 days served.
A jury convicted Andrew Buen of criminally negligent homicide in February, nearly three years after the shooting.
