Description
A truck driver who pleaded guilty to causing a crash that killed a man on Highway 285 last year was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers after he was released from the Jefferson County jail Sunday.
Ignacio Cruz-Mendoza, 47, was in the United States without proper authorization. ICE said they first became aware of him when he was arrested on local charges in Oregon in April 2002. From 2002 to present, Cruz-Mendoza has been removed from the United States, or voluntarily returned to Mexico, where he is a citizen, 16 times, ICE said on Sunday.
