With news of the impending bankruptcy proceedings for the genetic data ancestry website 23andMe, some data privacy experts have urged current users to delete their data from the website.
23andMe filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection Sunday, as demand for the company’s genetic testing services has dried up. The company, based in San Francisco, announced that it will look to sell “substantially all of its assets” through a plan to reorganize approved by a bankruptcy court.
