On Friday afternoon, a former employee with the U.S. Geological Survey pleaded guilty to one felony count of wire fraud in federal court. Prosecutors indicted James Montoya, 55, last year in a case in which he’s accused of creating three bogus companies on paper to funnel transactions with his government credit card. According to court records, Montoya worked in the IT department at the US Geological Survey in Lakewood.
