Description
On the same day thousands of people converged on downtown to protest President Donald Trump and immigration raids, a viral video was recorded which is now evidence in the case against a man and a juvenile.
The incident occurred on February 8 near Lincoln Street and 10th Avenue around 3 pm as crowds gathered a few blocks away at the Capitol building.
The video uploaded to TikTok and Instagram shows a man driving a blue pickup truck with a teenager in the passenger seat. Someone can be seen throwing a glass bottle from the truck at protestors, one of whom was recording video of the incident.
On Wednesday, Denver Police announced in a press release they have arrested David Halverson, 48, and a teenage juvenile on three counts of bias motivated crimes with bodily injury.
“The victims reported that two suspects in a pickup truck yelled “white power” and Nazi power”. Then the suspects threw two glass objects towards the victims and drove away while one of the suspects reportedly displayed a Nazi salute,” the press release from Denver police reads.
Court documents in the case also indicate police have video evidence from a HALO camera that captured the incident.
The release indicated the Denver District Attorney's Office will make a final determination of charges.
