Fear is keeping some workers home in the wake of ICE raids across Denver. Local business owners are seeing the impacts firsthand, and employees — regardless of their status — are choosing to stay home, too afraid to risk stepping outside.
This week federal immigration agents began sweeping through Denver, going door to door and detaining individuals without proper documentation. Since then, migrants and advocates say the impact of ICE raids is already being felt — some businesses have had to close for the day because workers didn’t feel safe leaving home.
