Description
A man who is in prison for a 1994 murder in Boulder said testing by former CBI analyst Missy Woods is why he was wrongfully convicted.
In 2012, a jury found Michael Clark guilty for shooting and killing Boulder city employee Marty Grisham at his apartment in Boulder in 1994.
On Friday, Denver attorney Adam Frank filed a lawsuit against the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, saying the DNA testing that Woods conducted led to Clark's unwarranted arrest, malicious prosecution and false conviction.
Woods is accused of manipulating data in more than 800 cases over her 29-year career and is facing more than 100 charges.
Clark's case was largely based on circumstantial evidence. Boulder police had said Clark, who at the time was friends with Grisham's daughter, had forged checks he stole from Grisham's apartment.
A key piece of evidence was a lip balm container that was found at the scene of the crime and was tested by Woods.
Frank filed the lawsuit on Friday because he said the Colorado Bureau of Investigation did not fulfill a records request.
