A backcountry skier was killed in an avalanche Tuesday in southwestern Colorado, the Colorado Avalanche Information Center said. The center said the avalanche happened on Red Mountain Number 3 in an area locally known as Bollywood, east of Red Mountain Pass in Ouray County. It happened on a northwest-facing slope at about 11,300 feet, the CAIC said.
