Three years after the Marshall Fire, Wendy Wyss’ Boulder County lot sits vacant – a rebuild saddled by a battle with her insurance company over an oversight on her home’s insurance policy.
She says the policy was 1,000 square feet short to pay to rebuild the home she lost.
“We were insured for about half of what we need to rebuild,” Wyss said, standing in the vacant lot three years to the date her home burned down. “We don’t have that money laying around. Most people don’t.”
