Description
Sarasota officials are giving away free canopy trees to residents to celebrate Earth Month.
Anyone interested in participating can join on Friday, April 25 and Saturday, April 26 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Bay Park at 1055 Boulevard of the Arts.
The giveaway will provide participants with the opportunity to select one of 100 trees provided by the city, while supplies last.
"In addition to beautifying the community, canopy trees provide significant benefits, including cleaning the air, saving energy, cleaning stormwater runoff, lowering the urban heat island effect, and providing wildlife habitat."
Here are the 18 different species of trees available:
