Description
Court documents confirmed that the man killed in a shooting during a fight outside a club in St. Pete on Sunday was once acquitted of second-degree murder.
Delvin Ford, 27, died after several shots were fired outside a club around 3:19 a.m. at 901 9th Avenue South, according to the St. Petersburg Police Department. Five years earlier, court documents say he was a suspect in the deputy-involved shooting death of Marquis Golden on Jan. 23, 2020.
A letter from the Office of the State Attorney for the Sixth Judicial Circuit of Florida said Ford and Golden were engaged in a shootout with Pinellas County Sheriff's Office deputies. That incident ended with Golden getting shot by a deputy and Ford being charged with second-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder of a law enforcement officer and felonious possession of a firearm.
After a trial, Ford was found not guilty of the first two charges.
