Description
An argument that turned into a violent series of events left two people dead, three pedestrians injured and three police officers hospitalized.
Tampa Police first received a call at 8:30 p.m. Sunday when a 48-year-old man, identified as Jeremiah Bailey used his white Honda to intentionally block another person's car at the Dollar General store at Dale Mabry and Interbay Boulevard. After a verbal argument, Bailey moved his car, and the person, identified as 47-year-old Eric Archield was able to leave.
Bailey then followed Archield to a friend's house nearby and hit him with his car, according to police. Archield's friend then fired a gun to try to stop Bailey while he fled northbound.
Archield had minor injuries and was treated by Tampa Fire Rescue.
Bailey drove northbound on MacDill Avenue near Interbay Boulevard where witnesses reportedly saw him start to turn into a gas station before abruptly making a U-turn back onto MacDill. He then veered towards a male pedestrian, "intentionally" hitting 43-year-old Jesse Rickett. Rickett was taken to the hospital with head injuries and is currently in critical but stable condition, a news release said.
