Description
With the bang of a gavel, Florida lawmakers officially ended the special session called by Gov. Ron DeSantis to focus on immigration and ballot petitions. Instead, politicians are starting their own special session.
Florida lawmakers filed a number of bills on illegal immigration and the ballot initiative process ahead of the special session.
The House and Senate were gaveled in on Monday morning. Before noon, the gavel came down again, officially ending Special Session A. Special Session B began shortly thereafter.
The first special session was set to focus on combatting illegal immigration, condo regulations, agricultural relief in response to natural disasters, replenishing the My Safe Florida Home Program and the ballot initiative process, according to a news release.
