Tampa’s annual Gasparilla parade on Saturday will see over 100 first responders navigating the crowds on bicycles, braving unusually cold weather to ensure public safety. Tampa Police and fire rescue teams, along with visiting agencies, will rely on bike squads for their agility in crowded areas. This year, however, the challenge extends beyond crowd management to staying warm amidst the chilly forecast. “We will stay bundled up, probably wear long sleeves,” said Officer Chris Hanlon of Tampa Police’s bike patrol.
