Description
Tampa’s rental and move-in assistance program closed in December following a backlog because of the hurricanes.
Those in need of financial assistance for rent can apply through the city's online portal. If approved, funding from the program goes to the applicant's landlord for move-in fees or other rental assistance needs.
Tampa Hope, a group of cottages sheltering people experiencing homelessness, is home to more than 200 people working through financial hardships. Johnnie Grant has been here for more than half a year working in a program to help secure housing.
“I was out on the streets,” Grant said.
He said he's thankful to Catholic Charities, which runs the program, but he's looking forward to moving out any day now.
