Description
Christmas Day comes as food insecurity and the need for assistance has grown across the Tampa Bay area, and volunteers spent the day working to help meet the need.
At The Portico in Tampa, more than 100 people were showered with appreciation and fed warm meals. Director and Pastor Justin LaRosa said it’s all about spreading the love to those who need it most.
“We believe when we get our knees under tables with different types of people, it changes the world. That's what Jesus did, and that's what we try to do,” LaRosa said.
The meals were provided by local nonprofit Metropolitan Ministries, who on Christmas Day served more than a thousand meals at locations across Tampa Bay — sustenance some folks may not typically get.
