A man is dead after an early morning shooting Friday in Tampa, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office. Deputies said they got word around 4 a.m. of a shooting on Patina Drive near Breezewood Drive. Once they arrived, deputies said they found a man who'd been shot in his upper body. Despite attempting life-saving measures for the man, he died at the scene. Deputies say they will release the man's name after his family has been notified. The public is not in danger, according to the sheriff's office. Deputies did not release information about whether they are searching for the shooter or if anyone is in custody. Authorities did, however, say it was an "active" investigation.
