Description
Florida Highway Patrol troopers arrested a woman who they said was driving drunk as she couldn't stay in her lane and side-swiped a barrier wall on Interstate 275.
Leslie Strickland, 32, faces charges of driving under the influence and fleeing to elude for the Sunday night incident, according to an FHP arrest affidavit.
Troopers say just after 9 p.m., callers reported an erratic driver in a white Tesla on northbound I-275 near the Howard Frankland Bridge. The driver reportedly kept swerving, varying the car's speed, and nearly crashed into other cars on the interstate.
Law enforcement eventually caught up to the car to conduct a traffic stop, but the woman took off, accelerating from 50 to 80 mph, FHP said. At one point, the Tesla hit the side barrier. The trooper attempted a PIT maneuver and struck the car in an attempt to get it to stop, but the driver kept going, the arrest report reads.
