The brother of a St. Petersburg man hit and killed by a car has been arrested on first-degree murder charges in connection to his death. Police say 34-year-old Tyree Gland intentionally drove his car into his brother two times along 7th Avenue South on Monday before leaving the area. His brother, 35-year-old Taiwan Gland, Sr. was later pronounced dead at the scene when officers responded around 2:30 a.m. Just days before, Taiwan Gland's son was killed in a shooting. Officials have not mentioned a potential motive and have not said if the two deaths are connected. Family and friends who were at the crime scene on Monday said Taiwan Gland, Sr. had been in the area to attend a vigil for his son, Taiwan Gland, Jr., who was shot and killed on Feb. 23 outside Citrus Groves Apartments just blocks away. No arrests have been made in that case.
