Description
Officers returned fire toward a gunman who shot at them as they responded to a call about a deadly shooting Wednesday afternoon, according to Tampa Police Chief Lee Bercaw.
It happened around 12:45 p.m. in the area of North 23rd Street and East Linebaugh Avenue.
Bercaw said during a news conference that officers who responded to the scene found two people running outside of a home, screaming for help. That's when a man, later identified as 42-year-old Michael Banks, fired at the officers, the chief continued.
