Description
A pickup truck driver didn't slow down for backed-up traffic ahead of him Wednesday morning on Interstate 275, causing a multi-vehicle crash that caused delays for hours, troopers said.
The crash happened around 7:45 a.m. in the southbound lanes near Armenia Avenue, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers say the Ford F-250 driver, a 20-year-old from Lake Placid, Florida, crashed into the back of a Ford F-150 truck, causing them to travel into the interstate shoulder and against a concrete barrier wall.
In the moments thereafter, the F-150 was redirected onto the interstate where it hit a Dodge Challenger. That truck then was hit by a dump truck, causing both to overturn and the dump truck to spill its load of sand.
The Tampa Police Department earlier reported diesel fuel spilled onto the roadway, as well.
