Description
A man has died after an attempted traffic stop turned into a high-speed chase which ended in a shooting Friday evening, the Citrus County Sheriff's Office says.
According to the news release, deputies tried to pull a Mitsubishi SUV over near the city of Hernando after suspecting the driver – 33-year-old Skyler Wentworth – had a felony warrant.
However, Wentworth threw a black bag from the SUV while he tried to drive away deputies. The bag was later collected for evidence and found to be holding pills that tested positive for fentanyl. A chase ensued and deputies reportedly tried to stop the car by using a tire deflation device, but it didn't work.
