Tropical Storm Idalia is forecast to be a hurricane when it makes landfall by midweek somewhere along Florida's west coast, bringing an array of impacts, including a "life-threatening" storm surge, gusty winds and heavy rain.
A hurricane watch is in effect from Englewood to Indian Pass — this includes the Tampa Bay region. A storm surge watch is in effect for Chokoloskee to Indian Pass, Florida, including Tampa Bay.
Tropical Storm Idalia has maximum sustained winds of 45 mph and is located about 100 miles east-southeast of Cozumel, Mexico, according to the National Hurricane Center's latest advisory. It's moving east-northeast at 3 mph.
