Description
A woman on vacation with her best friend in Lahaina, Hawaii, stayed in the pool at their rental unit while a deadly wildfire broke out around them recently.
Kristina Lee-Garrido and Misty Guantonio used the SOS feature on their iPhones to connect with emergency services because cell service was down. After over three hours in the water, firefighters were able to reach them and get them out.
Lee-Garrido described the pool as their "only option for survival."
