Description
A crash on U.S. Highway 41 in the Palm River-Clair Mel area left one person dead and another hurt Tuesday evening.
The crash happened at around 1:20 p.m. near the intersection of U.S. 41 and S. 16th Avenue, according to a crash report. A Dodge Charger and another car were driving fast, headed south along U.S. 41, Florida Highway Patrol said. That's when a 26-year-old Tampa man in a pickup truck headed east on South 16th Avenue entered the intersection to make a left turn and collided with the "speeding" Charger.
The impact from the collision split the pickup truck, authorities say, and the bed of the truck came to a final rest in the northbound lanes of U.S. 41 while the frontal portion overturned and came to a final rest in the southbound lanes.
