Description
When 18-year-old Ella Walker suffered a serious back injury in a trampoline accident earlier this month, prom was the last thing on her mind.
Walker, a senior at Tomball High School, feared paralysis after the accident and was rushed to Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Medical Center. A student studying to become an emergency medical technician, she knew the risks. Doctors stabilized her and performed surgery to reinforce her back with rods and screws.
Recovery has been slow and challenging, requiring Walker to wear a back brace around the clock. She believed she would miss her senior prom until hospital staff stepped in to make sure she didn’t.
