U.S. Vice President JD Vance visited the Nucor Steel Berkeley manufacturing facility in Huger, South Carolina Thursday, where he praised workers for building American products and promised to protect their jobs from being "shipped off to a country that hates us."
"When I look at those tall skyscrapers or I look at those beautiful bridges, I'm going to remember this day and remember that you guys are building the future of this country. I'm proud of you, we're rooting for you," Vance told workers during a speech after touring the facility.
Vance said the first 100 days of President Donald Trump's administration marked "the beginning of the industrial renaissance in the United States."
"But for the next 1,300 days… we're going to be fighting for you, fighting for your jobs, and fighting for the future that you want to build for your families," he added.
President has slapped 25% tariffs on steel and aluminum, as well as cars, and a 10% tariff on nearly all other imports. And China, the United States’ third-largest trading partner, now faces a 145% duty on its exports.
