A Clearwater Beach condo building was evacuated Tuesday afternoon over structural concerns, according to the Clearwater Police Department.
Police say the structural integrity of the 13-story South Beach Condo Complex at 1460 Gulf Boulevard is in question.
"There has been no structure collapse, but there is concern about cracks found in a pillar underneath the building, and residents are being evacuated as a precaution," the police department wrote in a release.
Clearwater police spokesperson Rob Shaw said construction workers first noticed a large crack in the building. He added that the building was 40% occupied with people in 141 units.
Inspectors are going through the condos floor-by-floor to assess the issues and help people evacuate.
