April 29 on The Story: The Multnomah County board spent its Tuesday meeting putting a spotlight on street outreach — particularly in terms of where taxpayer dollars are going and where there could be better accountability. Facing budget shortfalls, the pressure is high for commissioners to figure out what's working in homeless services, what's not, and how much it's all costing. And among the many groups the county is paying for outreach, there's a lack of consistency in how the work is measured and a lack of coordination between groups doing similar work.
