Description
April 24 on The Story: After the 2018 Netflix documentary series "Wild Wild Country," many people are now aware of a particularly strange chapter in Oregon history, when a guru called Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh formed a secretive commune near the small, rural town of Antelope. It culminated in a hostile takeover of local politics, murder plots and the poisoning of salad bars in The Dalles. Sarito Carroll was raised in the cult of Rajneesh, made a child of the commune. And 40 years after it all came crashing down, she's telling her story in a new memoir — the story of the children abandoned in the midst of an insular community, made to do its bidding and abused.
