The U.S. government has eased its overall travel warning for a popular tropical vacation destination, but officials are still urging American travelers to avoid several high-crime areas across the island.
In a revised advisory issued May 29, 2025, the U.S. State Department lowered Jamaica’s risk level to Level 2: Exercise Increased Caution, citing a decrease in violent crime since 2024. However, travelers are still urged to “do not travel” to specific communities throughout the country due to ongoing safety concerns.
