Paul Batiste was a founding member and principal songwriter of the Batiste Brothers Band, contributing to the soundtrack of New Orleans for more than 50 years. Beyond the stage, he dedicated his life to education, mentoring countless students as a band director at schools across the city.
He was remembered not just for his music, but for his commitment to lifting others, preserving the city’s rich musical traditions, and instilling pride and excellence in young musicians.
Family, friends, and the New Orleans community will gather to celebrate his life with a funeral mass at St. Katherine Drexel Chapel, followed by a traditional second line procession.
