Description
Potential Tropical Cyclone 6 has formed in the southern Gulf of Mexico. It is forecast to become a category 1 hurricane by Wednesday and make landfall in either west LA or east TX.
Impacts in Southeast LA and South MS: heavy rain, strong winds, and coastal flooding is expected Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
Wednesday and Thursday will bring the roughest weather. Tropical downpours may lead to street flooding. Also, small bodies of water may rise considering the rainy stretch that just happened over the last few days. Some downed trees and power outages are possible midweek. Expect coastal flooding of 1 to 3 feet above normal high tide. Strong winds may gust to 40-50 mph, with gusts higher than that maybe above 60 mph at the coast. This is a preliminary forecast and impacts will change. Please stay tuned to the latest information in the coming days.
