Description
Meteorologist Alexandra Cranford has the forecast at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 5, 2024.
A stretch of summery weather is here this week ahead of a pleasant cool-down for Mother's Day weekend. Monday continues warm and humid with a mix of sun and clouds overhead. A couple of showers may be able to form, but most will stay dry.
High-pressure ridging takes over Tuesday through Thursday. This will keep us mainly rain-free but still humid. Temperatures will probably reach 90 degrees for the first time this year by Wednesday or Thursday. That will be near daily record highs. It's a little early, considering on average, we reach 90 degrees on May 18. With the humidity, it could feel like the middle 90s in the afternoons.
A cool front should sweep through early Friday. It may bring a few showers or storms, although the chance of rain is low. Much drier and cooler air will show up just in time for the weekend. It should feel very pleasant for Mother's Day.
