A suspected tornado touched down around 10 Wednesday morning, leaving a path of debris along busy Pontchartrain Drive in Slidell. It punched holes in the roofs of buildings and tossed boats and cars around like they were toys. It blew all the windows out of the New Me beauty shop where Essence Waller was doing hair when the storm hit. “The wind picked up and the stuff went to rattling and the faster the rattling, the scarier it became,” Waller said. “We tried to take cover and run down the hall. I don’t know if you can see in there, that’s where we ended up and that was on top of us."
