Description
Hurricane Lee is expected to grow stronger over the coming days as it moves west northwest in the Atlantic. The eventual steering may weaken by days 4 and 5, causing the storm to slow down. Eventually, an upper trough over the Ohio Valley and East Coast will begin turning the storm north, hopefully threading the needle between the East Coast and Bermuda. Models have been very consistent, turning the storm away from the East Coast as well as becoming a major hurricane.
Long-range models are also keeping the Gulf and adjacent waters quiet for the next 7 to 10 days. We have to get to October 15 before we can relax. So if we can get to September 15 quiet, we'll have another 4 weeks to pay close attention to the tropics.
