Description
Police are looking for a man who is accused of punching a 16-year-old in the face during a fight while the two were playing basketball.
The adult man allegedly hit the teen just before 6 p.m. Friday at the Advent Fieldhouse in Winter Haven. Officials say the 16-year-old boy walked away to call his mother when the adult left in an unknown vehicle.
Surveillance video showed a man handing a ball to the alleged victim, and then striking the victim in the side of the head. The suspect then backed up and raised his fists, but the suspect and victim were separated by other people on the court, according to the video. The two of them walked to the sideline and then appeared to go their separate ways.
The man was wearing a black shirt, black shorts with white on the left leg and bright orange shoes, according to a Facebook post from officials.
Winter Haven officers said he possibly goes by the nickname "Big O."
Anyone who recognizes him is asked to contact Detective Jackson at 863-837-9519. Anyone who wants to remain anonymous can contact Heartland Crime Stoppers at 1-888-400-TIPS (8477) or submit a tip online.
