June 27 on The Story: Oregon legislators were staring down the barrel of a working weekend Friday evening after a much-anticipated vote on a major transportation funding package — really the flagship bill of the long 2025 session — failed to materialize by the afternoon. Earlier in the day, rumors were swirling both that lawmakers meant to end the session on Friday (two days before required by law) and that the transportation bill was dead, lacking the votes to pass. While perhaps not dead, the bill's failure to make an appearance signaled trouble. As the House went into recess Friday afternoon, Democrats called for a huddle.
