The man who shot his pregnant girlfriend in the head and critically injured her near Fountain Square in 2023 was sentenced Monday, June 2. A judge sentenced Stephen Wieland, 24, of Indianapolis, to 37 years in prison. Wieland is getting credit for 805 days – two years and 75 days – already served in jail, so his remaining sentence is just under 35 years. Wieland was found guilty of attempted murder, aggravated battery, domestic battery with a deadly weapon and domestic battery of a pregnant woman.
