Description
The Metropolitan Opera opens its season with an opera adapted from Pulitzer Prize-winning author Michael Chabon's novel "The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay." Published in 2000, the book tells the story of a young Jewish boy who flees to the United States during World War II. There, he reunites with his cousin, and together they find success by creating a comic book whose hero, The Escapist, fights the Nazis. With this opera, the Met is banking on a revival of the opera repertoire and format. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
