A US Congress committee's investigation into the involvement of Elon Musk's Starlink in providing internet access for scam centres in Myanmar is a "great step forward," says cybercrime expert Erin West. A former California prosecutor, West warned Starlink in July 2024 that the mostly Chinese crime syndicates which run the centres were using its dishes, but received no reply.
