June 30, 1965
It was a big day in San Diego for movie theater openings-June 30, 1965. Cinema Grossmont Theatre opened in La Mesa and Clairemont Theatre in Clairemont. Hollywood stars were in attendance at both. The 1000 seat Grossmont theater was showing ‘In Harms Way’ and at Clairemont, ‘Lord Jim.’ Our film shows stars arriving at Lindbergh Field—Richard Arlen, Jess White, Ed Begley and Barbara Bouchet—they were heading to Grossmont. At Clairemont-Louis Quinn of 77 Sunset Strip, Tony Dow of Leave it to Beaver fame, and our own star—TV 8’s Regis Philbin.
