Travelers have just days left to book Southwest flights with free checked bags. Southwest Airlines' longstanding baggage policy allowed passengers two free checked bags with every ticket, but all of that is set to change Wednesday. The Dallas-based airline announced in March that starting May 28, 2025, it will eliminate complimentary checked luggage for most customers as the airline begins to roll out major changes, including restructured fare bundles and an eventual end to its unique open seating policy.
