Sept. 17 on The Story: Earlier this week, Portland City Councilor Sameer Kanal said he'd learned that two people in North Portland had been detained by ICE, though there were few details immediately available. Today, KGW confirmed both cases, speaking to family members left behind. Both of the men were undocumented fathers who have been in the U.S. for decades, raising families. Both were whisked away up to the ICE processing center in Tacoma. The stories are incredibly similar, and so is the fear and uncertainty the families now feel.
