Description
It's a potential crisis for Hoosiers: losing access to food.
The CEO of Gleaners Food Bank warns that will happen if Congress passes the proposed federal tax bill, now being considered in the U.S. House of Representatives.
The warning from Fred Glass is dire. He said hundreds of thousands of Hoosiers could go hungry.
"If this proposed legislation becomes law, it'll be a needless, self-inflicted humanitarian and economic disaster for Hoosiers and Americans — not only the ones that are hungry, but really all of us," Glass said.
The tax bill would cut $300 billion in SNAP funding, formerly food stamps, which help people buy groceries for their families. It would shift millions in federal costs to the states.
