Five days after an EF-1 tornado tore through the city of Carmel, residents and city workers are continuing to clean up.
With a local disaster emergency declaration in effect through Thursday, the Carmel City Council now looks at how to be more prepared for future damaging severe storms.
"It's 50 years of Carmel being a city, and we've never really had a really concise plan when an event triggers emergency relief,” said Council Vice President Matthew Snyder. “I think the council is on board with setting a real structure so that we're not guessing when the next event comes through."
